Atlanta
Walker and I headed to Atlanta for a short get-a-way weekend, and it was perfect! We stayed with my sweet friend Amanda and Ben, who are expecting a little one in November! She looked amazing, as always, and was such a gracious host!
Our first stop for the weekend was The Avett Brothers concert at Chastain Park. The Avett Brothers are a folk-rock band from North Carolina and their music is perfect to listen to while cooking dinner and drinking a glass of vino! Walker scored the best tickets; we were certainly up close and personal with the band! We then headed to a fine Atlanta establishment....The Landmark Diner...for some late night eggs and wings and a toddy...yum!
Needless to say, we slept in LATE on Saturday morning. We headed out for a walk around Amanda's beautiful neighborhood at11:00am and breakfast followed shortly thereafter at The Flying Biscuit(http://www.flyingbiscuit.com/) at noon...truly brunching it! Their creamy dreamy grits are truly to die for, a must stop for breakfast food anytime while in Atlanta!
After brunch, we headed home to rest before the Braves vs. Cardinals at 4pm Saturday afternoon. I took the opportunity to finish my scarf (post soon to follow) that I started just last weekend over Labor Day. It was super easy and looks great, very proud! Back to our weekend...we took MARTA to Turner Field, just to fully experience Atlanta for the weekend, and it worked out just perfect. We enjoyed a footlong Georgia dog with cole slaw and sweet relish, and braved 9 innings of the game in the sun and the rain! We scooted away as the game was entering extra innings and caught the rest of the game at home. The Bravos won in the 12th inning with a three run home run!
We finished off our weekend with a few (too many) donuts on Sunday morning from Sublime Doughnuts (http://sublimedoughnuts.com/). We would certainly recommend stopping by for a sweet morning treat next time you are in the area!
P.S. - Hotty Toddy!
